One current refugee event in Southeast Asia is the Rohinya crisis. Nearly 700,000 of the group have left their homes in Myanmar to find safety. The Rohinya is a ethnic minority located in Myanmar. Myanmar's government, a Buddhist country, does not accept the Rohinya citizenship and sees them as illegal immigrants from Bangladesh. The reason why the Rohinya has fled from Myanmar is to run away from the violence and abuse inflicted by the security forces of Myanmar, The security forces are conducting ethnic cleansing or the mass killing of members of an unwanted ethnic or religious group in society. The Myanmar government discriminated the group by not letting them have education, jobs or freedom of movement. The Rohinya are migrating to Bangladesh, Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia all in which have limited resources and land to host refugees in camps.
